Hi all !

Just finish my first amp , It`s a sIII.
I have had much fun building it learned a lot.

Fired it up yesterday and tested it for 10 min super .
Today i got to play it and did some more checking, it hum’s but not to bad
When i have no guitar plugged in and all the vol on max no hum ,it gets
a litle nosy when i plug in the guitar.
It`s mostly white noise

I’m planning in do somme more checking tomorrow .
Planning on swapping the wires from the ot to see if that helps.
I made a voltage chart here it is:

V1: 1-169 3-0.79 6-170 8-0.79
V2 : 1-167 3-1.29 6-261 8-166
V3 : 1-212 2-46.5 3-67.2 6-209 7-46.5 8-67-3
V4 : 3-11.37 7-334 9-323
V5 : 3-11.37 7-328 9-323
V6: 1-287 3-345 7-287

Malt, Congratulations.

If the amp doesn't hum when you have nothing plugged in:
a) you have wired the input jacks correctly
b) that's the true amount of hum in the build.

If the amp only really hums when you have a guitar or cable plugged in:
a) that's the true amount of hum in the guitar/cables
b) there is not much you can do about it, especially Single coils.

Reversing the transformer wires wont reduce hum and MIGHT actually induce squeal. It looks like you've built it correctly. The White noise is from the carbon comp resistors. How does it sound??

Here's some voltages to compare to:
AC Mains Voltage 123 VAC; B+ 440 VDC no tubes installed

V1 - 12AX7 ; Pin Volts ;1 154 ;3 1.0 ;6 160 ;8 1.0
V2 - 12AX7 ;Pin Volts ;1 184 ;3 1.6 ;6 278 ;8 184
V3 (PI) - 12AX7 ; Pin Volts ; 1 222 ;2 55 ;3 80 ;6 217;7 54 ;8 80
V4 - EL84 ; Pin Volts ;3 11.7 ;7 364 ;9 354
V5 - EL84 ; Pin Volts ; 3 11.7 ;7 366 ;9 354

Stephen thanks fore the kit very nice.

I will check the voltage ones more .

The first pre amp tube are a litle microphonic + some of the wires from the
first tube socket. At the moment i have some old tubes in, i will put some new tubes in and check again.

I played it true a Marshall 4x12 whit green backs very loud.
I’m gone try it whit a celestion blue next.
Btw when i measured the amp i had 228-229 volt in .

I ran i litle wire between the output jack and chassis for now .
Gone make a new ground wire and ground it the same place as the cap can.
