Looking to buy an sIII kit soon. I think it would be cool to have a TMB channel JTM45 styled; and to have the normal channel with more gain, voiced like the plexi model. I do not know much about these 18 watters. Can this be done or are the differences in the sIII and plexi based more in the power section?

They all have the same PI and power section. And all of the Trinity 18Ws are basically different tweaks of the same design. If you take the sIII version, it has a cleaner version of the TMB channel, so you do get some of that JTM45/JTM50 vibe going. The Normal channel is basically the original Marshall 18W, which has lots of great Plexi-ish crunch, although only with simple volume and tone controls. But anyone who's played a real 18W knows that those simple volume and tone controls are all you really need. The Marshall 18W is all about awesome tone. So the stock sIII is probably exactly what you're looking for.
