Hi all, i am assembling me sIII v6. I am at the point of mounting the hardware and when I went to put the 6v6 sockets in, they don't fit. The holes are all the same size for all of the tube sockets. Am I missing something about how the v6 sockets mount, or did my chassis not get drilled correctly?

Thanks

Tim

From the last update on the chassis:
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=763
Last entry, it looks like all of the holes are now drilled the same.
It also looks like there are two sets of mounting screw holes in the chassis for the octal sockets.
If you have these I'd guess that the octals mount on top of the chassis using the outer set of mounting screw holes.
Hope this helps.

Thanks jcny, that's what I was thinking of doing, but there is about a 1/4" gap between the socket and the chassis still. Is that really how the sockets are suppose to ssit? Or should there be a spaceeer put in place maybe?

I have an early chassis, looks to be about an 1/8" gap that goes away as the screws are snugged.
I'll try to get a picture when I get home from work.

Post a pic, sounds like your chassis may have not been punched for octal tubes.

I guess it looks for like a 1/2" gap or more, the pins are mostly touching the chassis too

On both V6's I've built I had to ream out the holes for the octals. I think I used 1" but can't remember for sure.

They need to be 1-1/4" dia to fit the octal sockets. If yours are not punched correctly, we will exchange for a correct chassis.

Stephen- thanks for the offer, I already punched them to the 1 1/4" and the sockets are in and almost wired.
