I have a MM power tranny that is 315 watts, vs the 290 specified on the Trinity layout - would there be any issues due to the higher voltage?

I ask because I recently fried an OT and I am investigating all possible causes for the problem - I would have thought the voltage would be OK as MM sells these as 18 watt power trannies

I think the OT issue was likely related to a poorly soldered speaker jack and the OT getting zapped due to no speaker load (I found the poor jack connection when I tried to run another amp on the cab and it did not work either - at least I did not fry the other amp too).

Question # 2 - I have read about running a big resistor on the output jacks to prevent a no speaker OT failure

What value resistor would you use for the 18 watt OT if I want to do this? I have seen several values on the net for various amps but read it kind of depends on the OT.

Any issues using a resistor in this fashion?

My Trinity PT puts out 311VAC instead of the 290v. Mine seems to be running fine so far. Not sure about the resistor on the output.

290 Volts AC is is nominal under load. Mains voltage will vary changing the output voltage. 315 is a bit too hi for my liking but there are ways to drop the B+ with zener diodes.

20 watt 10 ohm resistor on a switched output jack would be fine.
