Hello,

I've make a trinity 18watt TMB recently. This amp is great, as a Strat with a Gibson  .
Thank you Stephen.
I would like to add an effects loop to complete my expectations
If you have any schematics that would be cool.

Thank you very much.

Michel

I built a passive one that way. It works but does drop the level a bit. I would suggest a simple buffered loop like the one Mojo sells would be quite effective.

Adding an FX loop into an 18W amplifier's signal chain will be detrimental to the amp's intrinsic vibe and dynamic feel. There's no two ways about that. So I would strongly recommend just plugging your FX into the front of the amp, just like Jimmi always did. 99.999% of the world's 18W players are satisfied with that approach. If you feel you *must* use an FX loop, then just run a pair of series jacks between the wiper of the TMB channel's Volume control and the cap on the input to the PI. No need for extra resistors and caps, etc.

As there's no distortion in the Normal channel's single-stage preamp, there's probably little point in having an FX loop for the Normal channel, but if you want to have one, you could do it the same way as for the TMB channel, so you would end up with one loop in each channel.

I asked Stephen this exact question before ordering my TMB, and this is the link that he sent back:

http://www.mojotone.com/amp-parts/Mojot ... Amplifiers

To be honest, the fact that the guy linked me to a competitor's site to satisfy a potential customer was the deciding factor in my purchase.

I've not tried this circuit (or even begun to build the kit that just came in the mail this past weekend), but once I get the thing up and running, I intend to give this little circuit a try.

We have had enough inquiries on effects to try again. We have used a pure passive similar to what Zaphod suggested (in TC15 too), and it does work, but is sensitive to the levels making it harder to use, but certainly feasible.

We are going to try an active design to see if we can offer this in the future for those who do want this functionality.

Unfortunately, active loops can have a detrimental effect on the dynamic feel and touch-sensitivity of vintage-style amps like the TC 15 and 18W. That's why I generally advise against them. Once you put one in, it's no longer really the same amp.
