I am finally getting ready to start my 18 watt Plexi build with the VRM that I purchased from Trinity last June.

I have decided to build a 2x12 cabinet for the speakers, which have not been chosen as of yet. When I start my build which ohm should I wire the speakers too? Most of what I have read is 8 ohm.

I have been told to get speakers with 16 ohm and wire them in parallel to give it 8ohms. or should I wire the amp directly to 8 ohms and wire the speakers in a series???

I tried going through the threads but could not find the answer.

Thanks for your help, if all goes well I should start in about two weekends and have many more questions.

The output of the amp is selectable via a switch 4 8 16

Ive heard its better to wire the cab for 16 ohm as the whole output tap is used
for me I like 16 just cause i some time use two 16R cabs and set the selector on the amp to 8R

Two speaker in a cab would be

Sp Imp / par /ser

4 / 2 / 8
8 / 4 / 16
16 / 8 / 32

I appreciate the response, I looked at my different speakers and because of the moola I ended getting (2) G12m both are 16ohm and I will wire in Parallel for a 2x12.

I hope I made a correct decision.
