I built the Plexi...it sounds awesome cranked (especially with the VRM taming my ears!)

I've never played a SL...what are the tonal differences? a little more gain and 'fatness'?

can the Plexi be easily modded to sound like a Super Lead?

You can turn it into a Mk. II iF you follow our layout. Clips by unimind if you search for them. Think EVH!

I have played a 50W SL years ago. I think the MK II comes close to replicating the tone of a SL but the feel and dynamics are not there. I say “comes close” but I think what is missing can only come from the larger EL34 tubes and their operating characteristics. I felt the EL84s saturate too much when driven by the SL spec in the preamp and I was never able to bring that under control. I have 6CM6s in my amp and they come even closer tonally and even help to give some of the feel and dynamics. In the end I feel that I have come really really close to getting the sound of a super lead in an 18 watt amp and I am very satisfied, but it’s still just not the same as 50/100 watt SL.

Coco was that your way of saying "yeah, what he said" ? :D

Probably the closest clip I have of replicating the tone AND feel of the SL:

Yeah, that was my way of mis-posting! You mean you have 6CM6 in your amp tho I think!
Should edit that post if I am correct!

Oops. You are correct. I have 6CM6s in my amp. Been so long I forgot exactly what they were.
