First post here.

I've been sitting on a plexi 18W kit for almost a year now .. how on earth is this possible!! I don't know if you remember me Steven, your dog almost had my shih tzu for lunch when I stopped by to pick up the kit!

Anyway, on to the build. I have a question regrading preferences when soldering wires to the turrets. I've only used eyelets in the past so I'm not sure whether its best to solder the wires to the turret topside or to to solder them underneath. I guess for modding it would be best to have them topside, but I wonder about reheating the top to change out a cap/resistor ... would this loosen up the wire?

Also, it would appear that a lot of folks are hiding their ground bus beneath the board in many build images. Why do that? Wouldn't it be difficult to get at it for modding? Perhaps there is a good reason.

I assume the electrolytics are still o.k. after sitting around for a year?

By the way ..great forum

What turret board do you have, the old red one or the new black one?

1. I would solder the turrets like such https://hotbottles.files.wordpress.com/ ... ly_1_3.jpg When modding the solder near the bottom of the turret won't melt
2. Old red board you run a big copper ground bus wire under two turrets on the board. New black board you run the ground jumpers above the board.
3. Electrolytics are fine

I have the black board ... so you have answered my question there.

Thanks also for the info regarding soldering. Will follow that advice for sure.

Cheers
