Anyone tried the EH Ez81 or EIs in the preamp or power sections?

I'm leaning toward JJs maybe?

Used both.

EI great in pre section, but tended to get very microphonic . Didnt try them on the power section. We stopped using them.

EH were fine in EZ81 . EH decent, if not a little flat sounding, in pre section. Also decent in the power section. We since stopped using them.

Now we pretty well use JJ throughout the 18s but use the Russian EL84Ms in the 15s. Sometimes sub in a special NOS one here & there in a complete build . :wink:

I have not used the EH EZ81 in the power section, but I have used EH and Ei EL84s in the power section and I think they work very well. So far very reliable.
