I just ordered a 2 x 12 cab and want to know the preferred method of mounting the chassis. The last one I simply screwed into the mounting brackets. Should I measure and drill through the mounting bracket and use carriage bolts nuts and washers instead?

What kind of a chassis are you using?
Most chassis have 4 holes thru the back and 4 thru the 2 sides. Unless you've built your own.
Anyway the accepted practice is as described above.
8 bolts = less movement while jamming. :D

I have a Ceri@tone chassis. It has four holes, two on each end.

Hmm, so it doesn't have the back panel holes. Coco's chassis has this, as do other's. It's a major advantage for stability.
I can't tell you to drill because well I can't. Devaluation of your amp,; warranty voided, ya know.
But, I guess in answer to your question. What kind of cab have you purchased or what are you building.
But 8 is always better then 4, duh!

Just went to Ceri@tone site.
Your chassis has only the back panal bolts.
We're used to having sides to our chassis (we're spoiled). So your chassis will only attach from the back. You don't have any other choice. So build you cab based on that.

Ideally, 4 through the chassis into mounting boards attached to the cabinet. Then 4 into the chassis flanges through the cabinet rer-top panel.

Put some foam rubber between the amp faceplate and the inside-top of the cabinet to prevent some rattles.

That's what makes this forum fun and informative. Never thought of placing the foam. I love it. Definitely using that for the 18SIII combo.
Thanks Coco

Well I haven't had any rattling problem, it is a Trinity cab after all.

The new one I ordered last week is also a Trinity cab.

I use 'closed cell black rubber' about 1/8" thick X 1/4" wide. Not the white foamy poly stuff. 'Home Deposit' has it!!
