Is there any problem with using the 5V tap on the PT to power a LED that I want to use on a switch? I figure there is no problem, but just wanted to make sure.

No problem, be sure to rectify & filter it tho and add an appropriate dropping resistor in series with it.

Would there be another spot already on the amp that is filtered and rectified to take some juice from, or am I better off just doing it separate?

Most are pretty high voltages so just tap pf the 5V.
