hi
i have a question about another way to ground and wire the sIII chassi

about grounding
it is better to ground the amps by star grounding or groundbus ?
( may be ground bus method is only for clarity )

and about wiring
it is possible and efficient to wire the amp from the top of the board ?
( that permit to wire the tube socket outside the chassi )

i've try to make a scene for an exemple ( i have insulate the star with 2 plastic washer and i have connected only one lug to the preamp ground )

may be you could take a look on my picture and give me your opinion ?

thanks and good night end ( for me it's the morning )

Yes, wiring on top the board is fine. I'm doing this in my build...

For grounding I would stick with what is shown in your layout drawing. Much neater
I'm sorry but I don't understand the concept of the plastic washers on the ground stud :? These solder terminals should be in a direct and very tight metal to metal contact with the chassis and the hardware :D

I recommend you follow the layout and use a ground bus. Your idea may work but you may also get hum especially if you ground the preamp to the high current side.

If you want to do away with the ground bus for some reason, just loop wire between the turrets you want to connect to ground and replace the bus.

Yeah - it's a tidier build with the bus. Easier to deal with too.

As an FYI, I used a common star ground (with a bus) on my 2204 build and I have no hum issues. I'm sure Coco has tried that with the Trinity stuff and decided the separate pre-amp ground works better for that design. I saw no reason to change it on the two Trinity 18w kits I've built.
