Been pre-occupied with the TRIWATT but TWEEDLE is practically ready to build. She's coming!

2009 will be a great year for you too, Jac  You need an apartment sized amp for that Corvus
With all of this success lately I hope Stephen doesn't forget the Tweedle People

I've been working on the Tweedle design with Stephen. It's got a neat little twist in it - well, at least I like it. :D The prototype will be built soon, for testing.

And the ghost reappears
Hey all! :D
So what changes have you made to the "Tweedle" Phil ?
Umm, she was supposed to be a mini-SIII?
Please don't inject any 18-watt!!!
I'm here for my clean   :D and my Trinity distortion, please.
Great R and R rests with Trinity.
Later all!

p.s. Do you have a schemo yet, that we can see?
Love to help with the design as always. You know we'll happily get involved   :D :D   8)

We've both been TRIWATT occupied but we have been talking Tweedle-talk from time-to-time.

The Tweedle is definitely next. Really, honestly.

If it's a Trinity Champ why not call it a Tramp?

I must say I like that. But, it's not going to be a Champ Clone although we did think it would be close. Now, we'll have to see.

It will actually have some Tweed Princeton DNA, but it won't be a clone of one of those either. In the tradition of Trinity Amps, it will have an extra little twist to it. :)

We're keeping that a little secret for now. :)

Not sure what you mean - an sIII is an 18W. In any case this is an SE amp, which is a totally different animal.

The Tweedle will give both. Let's just say it will be a Tweed with some 'Tude! :D

We have a schemo of sorts, but we haven't gotten round to building a prototype to test yet. I still have a personal hankering to do it entirely using octal tubes, if we can find a good supply of 6SL7s. But perhaps not, if 6SL7s turn out to have microphony or heater hum problems.

OK jac, I see what you're getting at now. :) Stephen and I often laughingly talk about the clean/dirty thing. He always wants to hear an amp's clean tones, and I want to hear the distortion! Anyway, I should also explain that if I'm designing an amp for someone else, then it's my job to design it the way they want, even if that means it has to be real clean. That's a whole different matter than amps I build for my own use and enjoyment - which have to be able to dish out some real good dirt tones. So one of these days I've just got to build myself a Deluxe. :) The Triwatt BTW can do some real buzz-saw style distortion.

My view of 18W amps is also that they have a very special kind of break-up and at a personal level it hurts me to see that taken away. If you hear me playing an 18W live, I make constant use of its touch sensitivity, so that the amp is always moving between clean tones, semi-cleans just breaking up, and all-out dirt. If an 18W is tweaked to make it harder for it to break up, then to me at least, it seems to lose some of that essential dynamic flexibility.

Anyway back to the Tweedle ..... or Tramp..... The idea is that it will be a very versatile amp, capable of cleaner tones or good rocky distortion. Like I said before , a Tweed with 'tude. :)

Well Phil, if you love distortion so much, when can we expect a Trinity/Zaphod design with a handful of cascading gain stages and a, shall we say, "California" vibe? :D I mean 3 decades counts as "old school" doesn't it?

But concentrate on the Tweedle first, after the Triwatt of course!!! One drool-fest at a time...

Well Phil, you'll have to build a "trinity" Deluxe, of course!
Jump into the bed then play with the rest.!
Ha, that was a fun line!
! :D :D
Well, let's see what the "Tweedle" has in store for us mere mortals      8) 8)

Still want a Triwatt Coco.
Later all.
Now if I can get this stupid comp going
