Looking at a good copies of both the Layout, and the Schematic it shows that both Terminal #1 & #2 of the Bass Pot are linked together, and one way connects to Cap. C9 (47n) and the other way connects to the Mid pot's Terminal #3.

Has there been a change?

In an hour I will connect them and see if I then get Guitar thur the amp.

I have had better luck with the Layout & Schematic than Pics.

1) Checked Cord - OK

2) Checked Grids (Pops in all, but V1 & V2)

3) Replace V1 and V2 tubes

4) Checked Wiring of switch in on & off position - OK

5) Checked most solder connections that connect to V1, V2, Pots, & wiring in between.

Still no guitar thru the amp.

I need a beer!

I also checked the Tip Cord Continuity from the end of the cord to Resistors R3 &/or R4 (Resistors just before V1), and the Cord Shaft Continuity on all three inputs, to Ground. They were all OK.[/b]

Then it looks like somethings wrong around V2. Did you say whether or not you had checked all the voltages? If not, you should carefully measure V2's voltages.

V2 Voltages were checked and were OK!

Probing V2 PIN 2 & Pin 7 (Grids) Caused no noise thru speaker

Master Volume seems to work - noise in speaker increases when the Master goes up.

If you don't get a click or a pop on V2 pin 2 (which is the 2nd half of V2), then the problem isn't in the Overdrive switch/pot wiring. If the voltages on V2 are about right, then that means it's powered and the DC paths are all there. So the signal is getting lost somewhere between V2's anode (pin 1) and the MV, which means the fault is in the tone stack. Could be a missing connection between V2 pin 1 and the tone stack, between the Treble pot and the MV pot, or else a short to ground somewhere in the tone stack wiring.

You might want to double check all coax cable runs for possible over-heating of the heat-shrinked ends. This is very common with RG174.

A guy here where I work, who years ago was a electronics tech, was looking at the Triwatt Schematic and his hunch is the grounding of the C18 & C19 Caps, if it is not a tone stack wiring/grounding issue.

We will see tonight.

Thanks for the help:

If that was the case I would expect the amp to work, but have an awful lot of hum. Well, we'll see pretty soon. :)

Joe G. was the closest with the exact cause, except it was a bad wire strip on the coax, causing a short, coming off the overdrive switch.

The amp sounds great. The only problem I heard was that you cannot dime the Overdrive. Around 3 o'clock it starts to get hiss & squeal. I was not planning on using it anyway. (BBE Free Fuzz, BBE Freq Boost. & Marshall BB Pedal cause enough mayhem.)

I can see why Pete Townshend thought Hiwatts reminded him of 1960s Fender Amps (That don't get flubby when pushed!)

Amp takes effect nicely, and is very quiet, while not on OD Mode.

Thanks for everyones help.

Looks like fooling with the OD wiring positioning might fix the problem. Later this weekend I will give it a shot, while fine tuning the bias.

Did the volume test this morning, & got the wife to yell at me. Everything (but OD Squeal) seems fine.

Running it as a 18 Watt Marshall Combo with a Fane AX12-150, and with an Avatar Open Back 1X12 Vintage Style Extension Cab, with an Eminence Tonker (I found used off Craig's List last weekend).

Amp sounds great with my Jimmy Vaughn Strat with Klein 65 Pickups. Now to check it out with my 62 Reissue Strat, and my Tele.

Yes, if you ever do decide to use the OD, just try moving around some wires with the help of a chopstick to find where the problem is coming from. It's generally pretty easy to fix.

And......... CONGRATULATIONS!!! :D
