Anybody built a triwatt from scratch yet? I mean, not using the Trinity kit.

Well, tripower is building one using the turret board & transformers in his own chasis. That's as close as we know of. email if you are interested in trannys, board or chassis.

The transformers are the two components that are really critical to get the Hiwatt tone with a 6V6 or KT66 amp. Both transformers are custom-made by Heyboer for Trinity, using the original Partridge transformer designs, but with the primary impedance and voltages adapted to suit 6V6 or KT66 tubes. So at the very minimum to get a convincing sounding build, you would need to get those two transformers from Trinity.
