I hate waiting for mail. I feel like sitting on top of the mailbox and throttling the mailman when he turns up dry.

Yep. I'm the impatient sort. :D

I've built quite a few amps - a couple 18 watts, a Lightning clone, a cute little 18 watt JCM 800, a Soldano Astroverb, a pile of AX84 style stuff, a Deluxe. etc - but I've never been this excited about a build. I've been a Gilmour fan forever and always wanted a HiWatt style amp, but I never really considered building one. The volume of a real HiWatt would be silly for me - like a bazooka in a Buddhist temple sort of thing. I think this is going to be the final G.A.S. inducing tool to reduce my guitar playing friends to husks of drooling finger twitching envy.

I'm going to take my time with this one (if I can). Teflon tubing on all exposed wiring, tool wire bends, etc. Heck, I might even spring for teflon wire for all of the guts. I'm definitely going to build a chassis cradle - I should have built one years ago.

Anyway, I will soon be one of the collective.

Stephen, I usually serial number my amps. Can you figure out the approximate number of my kit so I can make up a plate?

Thanks all - I'll be posting more as the parts arrive and the build progresses.

Rich

The triwatt with KT66's is LOUD.

LOve mine! The build is nice as well, probably my fave so far.

no idea what number mine is, but even with 6V6s it is capable of being very loud but the MV dosen't change the tone when turned down. My normal settings are about (clock scale) normal 9 bright 10, EQs 12, OD(when engaged)11, MV 9. Guitar volume is my main master.I have 2 cabs for it. 1 2x12(wgs) high eff speakers in an open back. 1 closed low eff 12" Marsland At home I use the Marsland, its about 88db@1m, the 2x12 is loud, about 104db@1m.
And I love it both for bass and guitar. Even used it my keys one night and my nephew loves it with a mic plugged in for his harp.

I'm already planning my puchase of the head and 2x12 cab. EmoHawks setup is just killing me :D

Another quick question - can someone measure the diameter of the solid core hook up wire with insulation? I'm going to use PTFE sleeve on parts of the wiring, but I'm not sure what size sleeve to buy.

Thanks all! You rock 8)

Hi Rich!
The component leads are generally 24 or 22AWG. The buss wire can be larger however, usually 20 or 18AWG. I believe I used 24 through 20 on my V6 rackmount 8)

Good luck with the build :o

Merry Christmas Emo :D

2010 should be an interesting year for amps....the first Reinhardt will be here in January and there will likely be 1 or 2 others shortly after :D

I also plan on a Triwatt to build in 2010.......

disconnector would be kit #21

3 built ones including the prototype which is now on trial in Quebec.

2 being built right now.

Not too bad since launch!

Thanks to all of you who helped make the TRIWATT a success.

Do you know if all kit's purchased were turned into working amps?

Any kits in limbo?

1 or 2 others? Not 2 more Reinhardts I hope! Sandy's an awfully understanding chick but that might push her over the edge!

Mine is Trinity-built serial #2 (born in April, 2009 but tweaked by the good folks at Trinity until June), and it's been my go-to amp ever since. That's my review up on HC - can't figure out why mine's the only one. Get on it, people!

There ought to be a Triwatt Owner Registry (and I'm not just saying that because I'm #2). ;)

Speaking of which...

Coco/Zaphod - was there a prototype and then a #1, or are the prototype and #1 synonymous?

Disc... you'll love it when you finish. I'll probably be able to hear you playing all the way up here in Baltimore. ;)

Prototype is not #1 but #0!! It is in Quebec, Canada with a Pink Floyd triute band.

Then I could think of no better place for the prototype to be. Glad to hear that you've sold more than 20 kits!
