I finished my Tweed Deluxe 2 days ago, and am loving it. There's a couple of issues that need to be resolved (for one i messed up the VRM, but it works great without) but it could also be that I need to get to know the amp a little more.

I played around with all day today, and think my problem with hiss is more my perception than a real problem.

I not so proud of how it turned out (the work i mean). Especially the input wiring will have to be redone at some stage. I guess the next kit will be a little better....

I had loads of fun building this, and am super happy with the sound. (At the moment I feel like the amp stays clean a lot longer than I expected, but then again I never had a Deluxe before...)

The cab is a beautiful piece of work from Stephen, I'm glad I ordered it. The Jensen p12Q will be exchanged for a TT Alnico at some point, but for now it's good.

Let's play some more !!

Very nice! I used a similar cab for the one I built also. It's absolutely stunning in person.

Yeah, nice job. You can adjust the pre gain a bit with the Vol control of the channel you arent using. Read about it in the manaul.

Thanks guys !

Hi Stephen, I actually did read about the interactive volume controls in the manual, but I guess I needed some more time to fiddle around with it. NOW I´M LOVING IT !!

It´s perfect. I really enjoy the tone I can get with it.
It even has a bonus: I have a couple of pedals I built that I thought sounded good or ok before, but now they ROCK !! First I thought it was in my mind, but then I set up the Valve Jr again with the same rig and could confirm that it was indeed the Deluxe that delivered the goods.

I still have about one and a halve week left to play with it, after that it will be another toy for a couple of weeks though (maybe this will come in kit form as well....)

I'm interested in how your did the spacing on your dovetails. Is that a special jig or do you have a method to space them out like that? Very cool looking. I just used a plain dovetail jig on my Deluxe cab.

Yeah, looks cool doesn´t it ?!

I have no clue how Stephen did it though, better ask him.

I love the looks of your cab as well. Nice thick leather handle.

For sure it looks cool. It looks like flamed maple. I used an ash top and poplar sides/bottom on mine. I love that wood.

SOme better dovetail jigs like my Porter Cable omnijig offer templates that are made (like the one here) to resemble hand cut wider tails and narrow pins. You see these a lot on older furniture... and they do look more hand made than a 1/2 blind, modern style evenly spaced dovetail joint.

Some have adjustable fingers to allow any width of pin/tail.

Thanks for the explanation AJ. I was imagining Stephen working away in the basement, dovetailing by hand. My half blind jig came from discount tool depot in the states, $30. I'll definitely check out the PC one. :P

Why? I've A/B's my Jensen loaded Trinity 5E3 loaded with a gold standard original 50's Fender 5E3 and the Trinity amp sounds right.

Another speaker may give you different, but I'd argue it isn't better.

I guess you´re right. And I must say that now that I have had some more time to play with it. I´m not in a hurry to change anything. I love it !

Thanks !
I´m using a TAD 5Y3GT (because i fried the sovtek...)
JJ 6V6
EH 12ay7 and 12ax7

I must try the 5751 as well, I have one in my Valve Jr right now so it would be an easy swap. Thanks for the tip !
