I'm new here and have been trying to go through the ENTIRE 18 watt board before ordering a kit. One thing I keep seeing here and there is "BBQ". What is it?

Some time back Another amp kit manufacturer named BBQ ruffled some feathers on other forums and ever since people use the BBQ BBQ as a synonym. ......or sumthin' like that.

Really? I couldn't tell from the context if the BBQ referred to an amp builder, a cab builder or some sort of formula for speaker mixing.

BBQ refers to 'W ebber'. I'm not going there; it's a long story!

Thanks for clarifying. That makes it a bit easier to follow some of the old threads.

The danger of any legal action has pretty much gone away now, but I think everyone has gotten used to humorously referring to W.e.b.e.r as BBQ. And the BBS software here also does a substitution.

Just curious. Does BBQ actually stand for some three word phrase begining with B, B and Q, or is it a reference to barbecue? If it's a reference to barbecue, I suppose it could go any number of ways. You could have rich, smoky tones. :D Or, you could have stuff burning up after catching on fire.

No it refers to the company of that name that manufactures the BBQ
