For the past couple weeks i have been stalking the forums and realized i really wanted a new amp head. I am looking at the tramp, but wondering does it come in a head configuration? and can i change the Marshall channel to Vox style tone? Though not getting the vox tone is definitely not a deal breaker. Im just trying to find out because want to order one before Christmas and have a week or so to but it together. Any help would be cool 8) and appreciated  .

The Tramp currently only comes as a Combo. However, here's a recent thread about possible ways to build it as a head - viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2300 And if you talk nicely to Stephen, he might well be able to do a special something for you.

As far as the Vox tone stack goes, yes, you could mod one of those in. However, since the amp doesn't use EL84s, it's never really going to sound like a Vox. And the high voltages and drive levels in the amp wouldn't work too well with EL84s either. It has a dual personality Fender/Marshall vibe.

If you want a somewhat Voxy head amp, then the TC-15 is for you. It does the whole Vox and Matchless thing and more. :D

Just to add, we do accommodate a head design. The top is punched to accommodate the tubes (up to KT66 diameter) and we plug the 3 bottom ones. Mounts like a Marshall.

Would it be possible for me to request my kit for the amp building course set up in this way? I'd rather build mine as a head than as a combo.

I hadn't realised that, and I'm one of the designers of the Tramp.
