I would like to build an 18 watt kit. I can solder and build a really nice cabinet but I have no experience with electronics or reading Schematics. I am a perfectionist and I have allot of patients. I can wire a house but I know this is very different. Am I crazy to try this?

Take your time, read the instructions at least twice, the safety info more than that, ask questions on the forum (patience, sometimes it may take a day before someon gets back to you :D ) and you should be fine.

I never soldered before I started my first Trinity kit, an sIII. I've built 3 now, the original sIII, an SIIIv6 and a Triwatt with more to follow.

I do have a technical background but in mechanical, not electrical but I found it fun to do and the technical instructions are VERY well done.

Hope this helps, good luck

Thanks

I think he means "patience"! ;)

having never built or even worked inside a tube amp before I took on the task of building an 18W Plexi. It turned out to be an amazing amp. As others have said, if you take your time and read instructions/schematics carefully everything should go smoothly!

The trinity amps forums and community will be of great help should you have any questions. There is also plenty of info on various 18W amps and tube amps in general floating around on the internet!

I am going to order my kit tomorrow. I emailed them today to get some advice on which 18watt kit to choose. I like Mesa Boogie, Orange, Soldano... I'm really not that picky. I just think it will be really awesome to build a one of a kind combo amp. And then my next project is to build a Les Paul Standard to go with the amp.
Thanks for the help everyone.
