made the changes... treble, master volume and VRM all seem to work. The volume and bass push pull are still not working.

I didn't have to make any on the bass. Also, when fat mode is engaged the sound gets louder.

On the switch associated with the volume pot. the short purple jumper should go to the center lug of the switch. is there a short to the outer lug on the switch?

look to where the short purple wire attaches to the SWITCH. It should go to the center of the 3 lugs. It looks like there might be a short from there to the adjacent lug on the switch ( the one with the 220K resistor)

So the volume (gain) control has absolutely no effect?

when you migrated all the wires to one gang you included the center conductor of the shielded wire?

Can you check with an ohmmeter that Lug 1 of the volume pot is grounded!? It does so via the input jack which itself has a ground connection at the lug bolted to the chassis.

Turn off the amp. Set you meter to the ohms scale. If you short the leads together you should get Zero ohms or at least very low ohms ( 1 or 2?). Now put one lead on lug 1 of the volume pot and the other to any spot on the chassis. You should see the same "near zero" reading. If so you can do the same from lug2. Then as you rotate the pot the readings should go from near zero up to several hundred of kilohms.
