Can i put the TC-15 gain switch on a foot-switch instead of the DPDT switch. I'd like to just have an input jack there instead of a switch. Has this been done?

Connect the two leads going to the switch to the tip (hot) and sleeve (common) of a jack. To make it simple use an insulated jack.

Then just use a footswitch that shorts the two terminals together, a SPST will do.

That's great. thanks very much.

Could i change anything in that circuit to get more gain out when i stomp on the pedal?

Do you think it would pop when activated?

I wouldn't think so because the cap is not being charge when the boost is not engaged. The cap's - is at 0V (ground) and the + is hanging with nothing to charge it.

I dunno if the sudden current in rush would make it pop. Maybe try a large resistor in parallel (>1M).

echidna does it pop if you've tried it yet?

I've done this before but forget the results... :damntech:

hey guys,

i've done the footswitchable "boost"...and it pops!

i think i should put a 2m2 resistor on the lug to the groud to avoid the pop...is this correct?

Put a 470K-1M resistor across the switch.

Yes it did! put a shunt resistor 2.2M to ground --> across switch.

Just wondering what the consensus is on this mod - a good one? I really like the sound of the boost and recently had to replace my switch (broke the bat in transit) and so it got me thinking of footswitch. What kind of cable for the SPST? Also about the resistor - you solder this between the two lugs of the footswitch jack?
Thanks,

Connect the jack on the amp to the footswitch with a regular guitar cable. The footswitch is just a SPST switch that shorts the tip (hot) and sleeve (ground) of the cable together.

Yes solder the resistor across the footswitch jack in the amp.

Don't know if this is any use but I built a simple footswitch with LED to use with the boost on my Unleash, it just uses a spare guitar lead,so I think it would work in this application too. The LED only uses the battery (lasts forever, mine still works after a few years!) when the boost is switched in.

Sweet! Great reference.
I spent a bunch of time with my TC15 today specifically to decide if I wanted to do this mod or not. What I decided for now is that I'm leaving the switch as-is, but am leaving it in the ON/boosted position. Previously I had felt it was a bit too hot for my tastes but critically listening and playing today, came away feeling that the boosted sound is fatter and juicier than not, and it also brings the volume of the two channels closer in balance. I find the EF86 channel is a bit louder otherwise, which is easily adjusted using the channel volumes, but this makes it even simpler. Looking forward to making sure clean headroom is sufficient for stage use but I'm guessing it is. Glad to have all this info should I change my mind - especially now that I have all the parts.
