Just about to finish up my tramp build, and have a question about this switch for my own curiosity.

Image

When ohming out the switch, the middle lugs, or lugs #2 in my pic are basically always on. So when the switch is in the up position, it is running lugs 2 and 3, which is only the 6V6 resistor (750r) , and when the switch is down it is running lugs 1 and 2, which will be running BOTH the 6v6 and 6l6 (750r and 560r) resistors

Am I understanding this correctly?

Thanks guys!!

Dan

That's right. In the 6V6 position only the 750 ohm resistor is connected to the output tube's cathode.

In the 6L6 position, both the 750 ohm and the 560-ohm resistor are connected to the cathode. They are connected in parallel which results in about 320 ohms. This provides the additional bias the 6L6 needs.

Thanks for your response! The build has been going great. I have a 10 month old daughter so I've only been working on it 20 minutes here, 45 there, but its coming along and I just need to attach the leads to the board and fire her up.
It's been a great learning experience seeing all the stuff I've read about as something tangible.

I should probably wait to see if I did this one right but I'm already planning my next build haha
