i've been tied up with a jtm -ish build for a customer and when i finish i think i'm gonna build something easy to unwind

whats everyone else building right now? anything cool?

Im in the middle of a JCM800/2204 clone.
After that, it's going to be a Soldano SLO-100 clone.

Built enough small wattage amps for a while. I need to blow the doors off the place for a while!

I have just finished a Wreck clone and a P1x with KT88, I am going back to doing another sIII this time with Stephens trannies and a cabinet with a pair of Tone Tubbies.

Just started gathering parts for an AC15 build. So far all I have is a bag full of the Vox-style terminal strips, and a replica of the JMI Vox AC15 red faceplate, which arrived from Australia slightly damaged. A proper 2-piece chassis should be done for me next month.

This one is either going to be spectacular, or a spectacular failure.

Just finished the guts to a dc-30. Need to get some valves. Fingers crossed it works..

Just finished a modded 18watt Stout, and have started a TW Express. Going to be on hold for a bit since I'll be deploying to Afghanistan for a couple of months. Nigel it sounds like I'm following in your footsteps since I also have some kind of P1/HO/Champish thing on the board. I've been following the SE lead develpments over at AX84 and may go that way.

how is the wreck? is that circuit as picky about lead dress as people say?
or is it all malarky?

Oh I forgot to add...

I'm going to build some variety of 'high gain' cab...either a 4X12 with G12T75's loaded in it...or a 1936 (cloed back 2X12) cab....

What did you use for the rotary switch?

Ian, I followed the pictures as closley as I could with out getting too silly, I had quite a bit of hum when I had first finished it but I applied a slightly different grounding scheme proposed by Paul Ruby and it is now more or less silent. I did a split load third stage to get the volume a bit under control which works well.

daz, that dc30 might just be the ticket.is the ef86 channel pretty vox-y ?

I just finished rebuilding (4th time!) my first build into a version of my channels switcher using 2 6V6s. It has been my test bed and had gotten kind of messy inside due to flying parts, terminal strips to test circuits etc.

I'm getting ready do build a 50 watt channel switcher using VACTROLs and I wanted to test some switching schemes. I looked in the first amp and decided to take it back down to the transformers and build a new board for it. It has turned out great, with totally silent switching and the VACTROLs are easy to work with.

So now I'm doing the layout for the 50 watt. I still need to finalize the control circuit for the VACTROLS in the 50 watt. I might just go with relays to control them but I'd like to be totally silent.

I'm just getting into an "original design". I bought a film-o-sound projector amp off ebay (bell & howell) it has 3 6v6, 2 12ax7, 5y3 and a bunch of other stuff in there. I've gutted its tiny chassis and am making a parallel 2x6V6 single ended amp with 2 12ax7. the first in parallel followed by volume the second in series with the tone stack of an ampeg in between (treb/bass) then master volume. I'm keepin the 5y3 rectifier and replacing the other 6v6 socket with a multi-cap can for the filters (40/20/20/20). I'm going to have to get a different OT to get the impedance right, leaning towards the hammond 125E since it has so many taps I can try. My goal is an amp loud enough to hang with band level racket but only when nearly dimed and plenty dirty at that point. I will A/B-Y it with my cleaner amps if it works out. Jeff

My Vox AC15 project is slowly gathering momentum. I have a faceplate, Radiospares tag strips, and I've been grabbing Mullard mustard caps when they pop up on eBay. Today I ordered a blank chassis from Komboking.

Three Bluesbuster Supreme SE Amps and a Thunderbolt 8 20/35 Amp.

Two of the BBSSEs are almost finshed. A Head, a Tweed Combo in the last of the Tubegarden 112 Cabs. The Thunderbolt 8 20/35 head is almost complete and getting ready to order the Head Cab for it.

The third BBSSE will be a Compact ToneBox Head. The Board is assembled and all components are here. Just waiting on the deposit in the mail.
