Hi - I'm interested in Spitfire variant with an EF86 in place of a 12AX7. Was wondering whether anyone has built an amp with a like or similar topology?

Thanks in advance.

[quote="gregarious"]Spitfire variant with an EF86 in place of a 12AX7. [quote] could be a modified AC-15 as Mr. Db noted. You could take the DC30 channel and use that as the front end V1 topology.

Yep, just volume, tone, MV.

I'm thinking of using a ss rectifier and would like to know what the consensus is versus a tube rectifier, any audible/appreciable difference?

SS=Bright & Tight! Little if any compression, but you can try to simulate with a loading reisistor. e.g. a 200 ohm, 5W in series after the rectifiers.
