Hey guys

Things were amazing for a week, but then it lost sound again? Do you guys have any trouble shooting ideas for this? All the voltages are correct except for pins 2 and 7 of V3. They should be reading around 40v but are only reading 1v or so. I rewired the board again to no avail. Could the components have gone bad?

You've replaced the tube, right? Checked the speaker connections etc. ?Things don't normally go south like that so quickly, but a component could have come unsoldered or loose.

Switched tubes around, checked the speaker connection, and resoldered the components in question. I guess I can just rewire it again and see what happens.

When (if) I rewire the tube sockets, is it necessary to use wire with housing to bridge pins 4 & 5 of the 12ax7's? Could I just use bare wire to jump them?it seems like that would be a lot less crowded to get the iron in.

Yes, that's how I've done them forever.

I've been working slowly on this. I finished rewiring the board and making the connections last week, but left the heater wiring as is.

I went to test voltages and started getting a burning smell. I sniffed around and isolated it to be either V3 or V4. I decided to do a quick voltage test on the heaters. Set the meter to 50V DC and went about it on V1 first. The needle went backwards, where the negative numbers would be, and quivered. Same thing on V2. I went all the way to the source and touched it against the PT wires. The same thing happened.

Anyone know what the heck that means? I haven't even touched the transformers. How would that go from working to not working?

The B+ is reading as it should, so the rectifer side of the PT's working.
