What a bummer, I’ve been away from the forums for a while, feeding my 20 year air cooled VW addiction (and work, family etc.) and just when its getting to hot to do much of anything outside here in AZ (and coco just finished a sweet cabinet for my next amp) so I figured I’ll pop over to 18watt.com and see what’s been going on and find it shut down  So I guess this just happened today, real big bummer. You would think that the admins could give access to the forums for searching etc. just not allow any new posts. Well, luckily there is still this forum and AX84 around. It’s just really sad when I think about the wealth of information I gained from the site, never having built an amp to trying my own designs, some better then others, and most of it is due to the forums.

Just my 2c

Eddie

jac,
I'll vouche for him. He's a good ol' boy from "down around Vicksburg" originally. But, of late he's been to Nashville then to Baton Rouge. Sort of a born again Cajun. ;>)

He has a few good amps and guitars. And a darn nice red '67 GTO if I remember.

Do you mean the sIII One mini stack? There's a thread here somewhere with them.

Everybody loves BBQ (the food I mean)!

Boy, where have I been? 18watt.com closed due to diverged intent and petty arguments.

So, please, let's all build amps, help people and be nice! Spread the word! I may need some new moderators..

I tried to get into the galleries etc and couldnt. Hope they open them up. I do have an archinve from MickeyC of the stuff when it shut down over the BBQ fiasco, so I can post that.

Any suggestions? Maybe we need a download section here?

I'd like to be able to host pics & clips. jpatton has been helping me to try to prevent the spammers from registering so maybe after he does that, we can work on hosting. Thing is, I can afford only so much space.

Well, let's all move on. Suggestions welcome.

Might as well consider me for a moderator. In my position, condition, I'm around enough. Up to you, of course since it's yours

As far as hosting downloads, you can ask for donations as your costs will jump.. How about a raffle for Trinity t-shirts. What  You don't have any  I'm waiting
Geez, I'm bad
Might not be a bad idea, though.
Later,
Jac

I wish! Probably the prettiest of the muscle cars. I'd rather have a Chevy, but that's just because I'm partial to the engines. I have an 02 Z28 and had a White Monte Carlo SS, but no goat. I think that would have been "Tri-Power455" that might have had the goat. I knew him from LS2.com as well. I haven't seen him in awhile.

As far as where to hang out for amp talk? I don't know if this is the right place Coco. I really liked 18watt because it was a neutral ground for amp stuff as far as buying parts. I really don't know what we are going to do. I've been wondering about starting a forum site to replace it, but I'll have to talk with some folks that I know about that sort of thing. I also don't know if I would have the time needed to run it.

I will be here much more often though!

Jon Anderson posted this exchange at AX84.

Thought it might be of interest...

Jon's email

I'm sure you are getting flooded with email, so I'll just keep this short.

Have you considered transferring or selling the 18watt domain and/or forum content to interested parties in order to keep the content and community available? It seems from discussion on other websites that the content is still valuable to the community.

Thanks!
Jon

Graydon's response
------------------------------------------------------------
We may make the archives available to members, but the important content is in the Downloads section. Alot of folks relied on it for a "social community" and that was never the intent of the site.

I am not interested in selling the site at this time. After the dust settles, I'll figure out what to do with it.

Thanks,
----------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not sure I'd want to (or even have enough money to!) buy it, but I didn't want to insult him by saying "Hey, why don't you give away the site you built and worked on for years, since you obviously don't want it anymore." either. =)

Jon

I'm kinda lost right now, I need to find a place that feels like home. I know it will take time. I'll probably just lurk here for a while and I'll jump in if I feel comfortable doing so. Just wanted to let ya all know that "that" women is here, so you now be on your best behavior. Ya.. Right.

Hey NW,
Nice to see ya.
We all love "that" women. Lurking or not. And we're all still proposing.
If ya look around, Coco was taking suggestions for hosting downloads and whatnot. Be nice to develop another great site from go.
I'm pretty comfortable here, although it's not as neutral as 18. Of course neither are the other forums now.
Working on an EF-86 Lite II 18 watt right now. Hoping for pics by tonight.
Later,
jac

Hey all! Another Newbie here.I too just came around to the 18w experience, and after perusing (lurking actually!)the sites ,I decided to go with a Trinity S111 TMB which I am anxiously awaiting!!!!It seems that with the closing of the 18w site that a lot of people will migrate to this site(which seems to be a lot less flamey!!)I am really looking forward to this project after building practically everything else I use (guitars, pedals, amp repairs ,cabs, cables, flight cases, slipcovers, speaker recones ,custom pedalboards)it seemed like it was about time to build the final piece in the set!! When I get the amp ,I will surely have questions and am glad to have this resource at my fingertips.
