Hey Guys I have been hanging around for a while and have finally decided that I need to build another amp. Thanks a lot  Anywho, I have a bunch of aluminum and access to a toolroom so I think I will build my own chassis. Does anyone have a decent chassis layout I could follow? If not, if someone has some dimensions I could do a layout in AutoCAD and post it if anyone else is interested. Thanks!

Hi, i can measure up the basic dimensions of my 18 watt lite. They all should share the same basic size. As for the layout, i'd do the front and back holes according to those on the plexi panels. I had to do that with my 18 watt lite. The rest can be cut to taste (ie transformer mounting holes and tube sockets). Thats probably your easiest option.

If you have some dimensions that would be great. Basically what I need is the transformer and tube socket mounting hole dimensions and placement.

That would depend on whose kit you were using. Mine was from Barry Plows in the UK, which use UK made transformers.

Personally i'd buy the iron then mark it all out and cut.

If you want the actual box dimensions to cut/bend the chassis up i'll post them.

Dont forget you'll need a faceplate. There are some standards out thereof you want to duplicate them. OTW faceplates get expensive!

Actually I'm going to try making my own faceplate also. I have an idea I would like to try... I'll let you all know how it works out. I want to see how much of this thing I can build myself. I am even thinking about winding my own transformers. We'll see how ambitious I get.

Cool! That sounds pretty hardcore....

The dimensions off my chassis (which are the same as the JTM 45 chassis') are as follows:

19" x 6 3/4" x 2 1/2" (these are outside dimensions) The thickness of the aluminium was ~1/16"

If you're building the faceplates yourself, you may aswell layout the whole lot  Let us know it all pans out.

Maybe this will help
(You have all the mesures but they are hidden, you have to show them in the program).
I used CATIA to draw it.

Here is the link:

Thanks for the help guys! I already did my own layout and I think it will work. I will post some pictures later to show everyone how its going. If anyone else wants the layout I can make it available in .dwg, .dxf, .pdf or whatever. Later all!
