What should I be looking for in a multimeter for building an amp? I think it should be reliable, digital, easy to use (I'm not an electro-engineer- I can change the batteries in a flashlight...). Is there a AC/DC range I'm looking for etc?

Buy the most expensive one you can afford seems to be the way forward. I started with a cheap £5 multimenter from maplins but that is only so accurate. Fluke seem to be the best model from what i've seen. I use one from Argos that does all the testing i need.

Auto ranging if possible: 10 A > 500V, 2Meg, continuity checker (buzzer is convenient); optional diode checker, cap checker, frequency, inductance. Digital or analog. Get a decent one so it will last a long time. Nothing worse than bad tools!
