I'm new to this forum, and would like some input if possible. I've been on the 18 watt forum for 2 years and absorbed much info on amp building.I also attended an amp building seminar [ Graydon Stuckey's 1st.] last year. If you can attend ,it is a great experience and well worth the tuition. After attending, I have built two 18 watt amps from scratch, and a Tweed Deluxe kit from Torres Engineering. Three great sounding amps. I play a 1989 reissue of a 1956 Goldtop with P-90 pups, and a 1989 HMM Strat {great guitar for the money].
Now, I just picked a copy of Tino Zotolla's "Building Vacuum Tube Guitar Amplifiers" vol.2 , and would like to know if anyone here has built the AC-30 early 60's model from this book?
The Vibrato circuitry is left out, since it is not used that much. It has a Top Boost Mod, which provides treble and bass controls on the bright channel.
This 30 watt amp dates back to the early 60's and consists of a 12AX7 preamp, 12AX7 mid amp, 12AX7 phase splitter, a quad of EL84 power push-pull amplifiers and 5AR4 rectifier. I will be using Mercury Transformers and Choke!
Nice to be here, and look forward to the input!
