Instead of getting a Metroamps kit, as I was originally intending, I bought a transformer set from Trinity and also, STephen put a "kit" of components and a chassis together for me - a one-off thing so to speak.

I am familiar enough with the kits to not need step by step anymore and just went from the layout.

It was a pretty "easy" build since there is a lot of room to work in the chassis, and not too complex at all.

The head cab is one I built, and over the Christmas holidays, Stephen helped (well, I helped is more realistic) me tolex it up. Its based on the Triwatt head cab as I dont like the full size JTM cab.. too big.

It has currently a set of Shuguang KT66's and rectifier, and some unknown Chinese 12AX7's I pulled from another amp I bought.

Nice big tone, fgood clean headroom but still dirt enough to sound great. I didnt get to crank it up, will do tomorrow during the day.

Fine looking specimen of an amp you got there. Like the sign says "Trinity Amps " "Components Inside" ` One of a kind indeed!

Your wiring is getting prettier all the time.

That cab looks really nice too!

thats pretty?? youre too kind!

(the dog is laying on my arm so i only have one hand to type.. no caps sorry)

i prefer to refer to my wiring as functional, ultilitarian... you know..

but the amp is clean/noiseless and thats awesome.

sounds great with the tele, lp jr (p90) and others... but especially the p90

One off. I happened to have a spare set & chassis here. My last set is for an as yet undetermined special build.

The OT is another Trinity special with dual impedance windings for KK66 or EL34.

The funny thing is, that thing REALLY makes building an amp easiler! I wont ever be without it again during the build... having the ability to tilt it towrds you, while being at the right working height, and with excellent visability (and no chance of slipping off your lap or the edge of the table!) makes it well worthwhile.

PS I want to try a set of Gold Lion KT66's in my JTM... just to see how they compare to the Shuguangs.

Well, finally gigged the JTM45. It sounds REALLY good - a lot more "clean headroom" than the 18, its still got some bite to it though.

It has been running great since the build... so far so good! Another night tomorrow... and I still havent tried the Gold Lion's in there, the Shuguang's sound fine to me.

Well, partway through tonights gig the 45' started to get fizzy... I suspect one of the cheaper Chinese made (unknown brand - got them used) preamp tubes.

I will swap them out for known new tubes and see if that fixes the issue immediately.

Good thing I brought a backup, my rewired Stangray clone.

I just got back to Timmins this afternoon... was runing around and too busy to try it.

I have some NIB preamp tubes, will swap them out tomorrow and test it. If they dont fix the issue, will try my Gold LIons in there to replace the Shuguang's.

Will post back when I test run it.

Well, I replaced the three 12AX7's (they were unmarked made in China tubes) with new JJ's I had in my tube box... the buzz/ring went away.

I will have to play it for an hour to make sure, but it certainly doesnt sound like a farting speaker anymore as it started doing at the bar.
