Can you believe some people get tired of seeing another tweed cabinet built
awful in red..

Joey,
I am inspired by your beautiful work.
Do you install and wire everything on that wooden board and then transfer it en mass into the chassis?

You would need to use bottom mount tube sockets, the rest should be fine.

Yes, but our sockets are top mounted. They would need to be widened a bit to fit. Or get bottom mounted.

I'll wire the tube sockets in place and maybe do the rest with a jig.

sorry guys I meant top mounted ! I anted to do the jig but found I didn't need to.I googled images

and followed those, there just aint that much wiring, save the trannys for last !

Thanks Scott :D
Everything I possibly can gets routed and soldered on the build fixture prior to ever seeing a chassis. The tube sockets do have to be bottom mounted. The sockets I'm using here can be top or bottom mounted, and fit the same panel cutout and dimensions as a standard chassis with no mods. Everything besides the transformers can be done in advance and folded into the chassis in one piece. I have a solution for prewiring the transformers as well, but it's not really worth it for those last few wires IMO, unless for some reason I wanted to test the amp on the jig first as well. Working on a fixture gives me way better control, I could make a thousand of these amps and they will all be identical, plus it saves my fingers for playing!! I used this same approach on my 18 watt as well...!
