Hi, I need some advice on how to drill holes for tube sockets in an aluminum chassis. The holes need to be 1 3/16" and I don't have a step drill that big. Would a holesaw be the best tool?

Thanks, Dave.

Hole saw would be okay, best if in a drill press at proper speed.

Go easy on the hole saw & it should work. If you can, use some cutting oil or lubricant to help. A punch that size can run around $50, but you could get one from Home Depot or similar place.

Dave.

I use cutting oil to help with my sawing problem very well. Have you tried yet?

If you're careful with the hole saw, you should be fine. Use a lubricant or cutting oil to make things easier. You may find a suitable punch for the job for roughly $50 at Home Depot or a similar store. wordle today
