Hey guys,

I sent an email to Stephen a bit ago, but thought I'd post here too if anyone can help.

The first voltage readings without any tubes at all look just fine… 6.3 volts AC across the tube socket pins as indicated, 620 volts AC across pins 1 & 7 of the rectifier socket (manual says should be 580 VAC min.).

When I get to the next testing phase, using only the rectifier tube installed, my B+ voltage reads 427 volts DC. I think it’s supposed to be 350 volts DC, correct?

I’ve tried two different EZ81 rectifier tubes, both give me this high B+ reading.

Any ideas?

whats your line voltage if its higher that 117v you will have higher results

When you check the heater voltage on the other tubes are they 6.3 v as well

And when your taking b + readings with no tubes in your gonna get a higher reading as there is no load

I think in the startup notes the voltages are higher with no tubes in

We did get most of this sorted out and the normal channel is working. It was the fact that no tubes were installed.

Hi sazafraz,

Thanks for the response. Stephen replied to my email shortly after I posted (how is THAT for service!?!?! And on a Sunday no less!), and we're working through the issues. Turns out those voltages I posted are ok, as there was no load, as you eluded to saz. But, I've got other problems... the cathode voltage on the 6V6s is way too high... 40VDC when it should be around 22VDC.
