Hi,

This is my first post, but have been lurking for quite sometime. I am "fzfwyv" on some other forums.

Anyway, my question is on the number of filter caps in the TC-15. In the schematic for the lightning there is a mix of 22uf (4) and 33uf (2) but in the TC-15 I see a total of 7 filter caps (5 on the board and the cap can). Seems like there is an "extra" 22uf.

Just wondering if someone can explain why this is. I'm asking from a purely educational point of view because I am planning a a Lightning build but now this has me quite intrigued since I have built a couple AC30/4's witht he EF86 normal channel and really like that amp.

Thanks for the education!

-Rich

The TC-15 is a Two Channel amp and has one extra tube. The Normal channel has an EF-86 and it's own filter. Therefore the extra 22uF cap.

RichSz FWIW, build the TC-15!! = = Lightning + + 8) and you can get help here even if you part it yourself!

Thanks Stephen...you took the words (or thoughts) right from my mouth. I'm going to do the TC-15...I also have the West Labs trannie set that I've had for a long time.

This is a great resource here and I do appreciate the time you've put into it!

Thanks!

West Labs tranny set is definitely a good set. You wont get the crunch / munch option, but it will sound great.

Have fun!
