It occurs to me, tooling around with two amps (Trinity Deluxe and Trinity TC-15, of course!) running at the same time, or sequentially, that some others may have good advice for me and others on the forum as to what you've found to work well.

I've used a couple of different ABY stomps, and like my Startouch for quality build, low noise, and fair price. But without transformer isolating circuitry, there is some signal loss in the Y (both amps engaged) mode.

So, what do you use that you like for this application?

Thanks!

I havent tried any but I see the Morley ABY Channel Switcher out there. I have a friend who says he can build me a better one with no switching noise. I'll ask him about the gain factor as well in Y mode.

Thanks, Stephen. Lehle has a transformer-isolated switcher that has gotten very good reviews, but it is pricey. As in $230 for their simplest ABY control.

I know that Keeley makes one for Peter Frampton that gets very high marks. The Radial Tonebone switcher is supposed to be very good as well. Of course they're not giving either one of these puppies away

I have a Radial Bass Tonebone, and it's excellent.

I mostly use the Tonebone for running two basses into one amp. Being able to do a little bit of level-matching and EQ between instruments makes it a very valuable tool. It's much more than a passive switcher.

Once you add transformers into the mix you can pretty much plan on paying some serious additional coin. I have seen some schematics for home brew switchers/combiners that may save a bit.

I've noticed a few pedal boards with built in switching/looping functions (Furman or SKB maybe?) Has anyone tried these?

Another option....

I asked Greg of Solid Gold FX in Canada to make me a custom ABY/Boost pedal.
It's a normal ABY pedal with stereo and mono output jacks and it also has an isolated input and switch to activate my plexi's clean boost. It works very well and its compact size makes it handy to throw in my gig bag.

Cheers,

Brian

Sorry for the shameless plug :-)
