The design is pretty well baked and tone tested once.

We are doing another tone test this weekend for more input. So far it is very, very close in tone to a vintage DR103 but with some very cool and unique options.

Transformers are being custom built right now by Heyboer [the real Partridge clones] and we'll do a tone test on them to decide what is best.

Then we finalize production details.

Our target is by no later than end of Q1 and hopefully sooner.

Kits & Amps

This might have been answered earlier, but are we going to be graced with some Triwatt sound clips soon? Perhaps from Brent's marvelous studio?

Well, this is coming from me, and hasn't been discussed at all, but I'm guessing that once the new iron arrives, there'll probably be an opportunity to have another listening party at my studio. And this time I promise I'll keep my wits about me and set up some mics!!!!

Anyone who wants to reserve a kit or amp just shoot me an email with your intentions. The more orders we start with, the lower the cost.
Don't know the exact price yet, but it will be more than a TC-15 kit and less than a HIWATT!

I'm in for a Kit.
Would like to check it out in person first if possible.
Hear the amp in living colour, before building it.
This is quite exciting, and am looking forward to it.
I'll shoot over an email.

Will the kit chassis be the same size as the Slll 18 watt chassis?

That might be possible soon. We'll be doing another another sound test once the new iron arrives. We'll might have two then but Brent will want one to record with [the best of breed].

Anyway, if it's possible, I'll open up the shop to all for a day.

Yes. Opening will be 18" though for all the controls.

Will the new iron support four 6V6's?

No, I'm afraid it's designed specifically for a pair of 6V6s, as is the chassis. The OT is closely based on the original Hiwatt/Partridge design. And the amp is already plenty darn loud. Otherwise there are 50W and 100W Hiwatt clones and RIs already out there, if you want to peel paint or kill passing birds. :)

Oh well. I have all the parts expect iron for a 103 clone and was thinking maybe I could use something less potent.

Knowing I will have to mount the amp chassis "Bluesbreaker Style" in a Combo Version, will a Marshall 1974 (18 Watt) Combo Cabinet be good, with the modified 18" slot for the control panel, or will the depth on the cabinet need to be expanded from the stock 9", to fit the transformers & 6V6 Tubes?

Thanks:

In theory you could use DR504 iron with this amp, and run a pair of EL34s. The custom transformers we're having built are based on the DR504 ones, so the dimensions should work. You would also end up with a somewhat more flexible amp than a regular 504 or 103. There would be a few cap and resistor value changes required for the EL34s, but no big deal if you already have some amp building experience. AFAIK Mojo sells reasonably-priced DR504 transformer sets.

The Triwatt uses the same chassis size as Trinity's other amps, such as the TC-15. In fact one of our challenges was how to build an amp with that many gain stages into a chassis a lot smaller than the original Hiwatt chassis, and not get squeal problems. The transformers and 6V6 tubes need a little over 7" clearance, including the depth of the chassis. So if you've got 9"clearance, you'll do fine. I trust your cab's going to have black tolex with white piping. :)

I am pretty sure that is what I will do. By the way, I just got my N.O.S. Fane AX12-150 tonight. (Built in 2005)
