Here are a few shots of my latest build. It is a custom Tele for a fellow here in Northern Ontario( well it was suppoosed to be and he is trying it out tomorrow - but I have plans to actually hang onto it and build him another as it is too damn nice )

Single piece ash body, chambered and double bound, vintage amber tint lacquer.

single piece maple neck with RW board, pearl dots, also bound, 22 medium frets, dual action truss rod with spoke adjustment at the heel

custom wound BG Custom pickups, vintage voiced.

Schaller tuners, gotoh bridge and plates, electrosocket jack.

It has a medium fat neck, not as fat as a 52' but a little wider.

SOunds devine! I must keep it for myself

I have a Tele on my project list. Won't be a scratch build though - I don't have the skills/talent/patience. Partscaster for me for sure.

damnit id like to have acces more often to tools to build me something like this....and the damn flying V i got cooking in my head for the last 10 years or so..maybe another bass too...you know, i got the same GAS as you all.

im actually better at woodwork than electronics, but i got no space(nor money) for the right tools (and to make things worse im kind of picky when it comes to quality...)
the only thing that im really not good at is finishing, but i guess with the right tools and some practice id get it

btw, i really like the idea of the spoke nut thruss rod, it just makes life easier and i think it is more accurate in the long time(by my experience)

ahh, with each guitar you learn something, or find a new problem....

The spoke wheel adjustment is the same truss rod I usually use, just a different adjustment nut. But it is easy access and easier to contsruct since its at the heel. My Peavey has that style and I decided to give one a go. I like them!

I think I have built close to 40 guitars now... but with each one I learn something new - or how to do something easier/faster/more precisely

Well, I was pretty surprised last night - when we went to see Larry's band at the Hollywood and the new Triwatt, I brought my new Tele to show off. Larry ended up using it for set #2 and 3!! I was blown away by the band, the Triwatt and seeing such a terrific player shredding the hell out my new guitar.

What a night!

FWIW, the Telecaster, Stratocaster and Precison Bass body shapes are now considered "generic" and are free to use.

Fender never bothered to formalize any trademark protections for those three body styles, and 50 years later....well that horse is out of the barn. Instruments like the Jazz Bass, Jaguar or Jazzmaster with the "offset waist" design were properly registered and protected.

Fender retains protection for headstock shapes.

I guess this means that AJC can go into a complimentary business with Trinity. One stop shopping for DIY guitars and amps.

Well, as you're and caring sharing sort of lot, thought I'd share my just finished guitar project - alas, I can't claim any of the woodworkmanship, as I left that in the hugely capable hands of USA Custom Guitars. It was guitar of the week...but it's still there on their homepage, so I guess it turned out ok!

Chambered carved top mahagony body with flame maple top that I sourced. Mahagony neck with Brazilian rosewood 12" radius board. Tonepros wrap bridge, gotoh locking vintage tuners and some exceptionally tasty Bare Knuckle PG Blues pickups. Plays beautifully, even if I don't! It's a great along side my '57 sonic blue, eric Johnson neck, callaham trem, kinman equipped 'partsocaster' strat!

I can hugely recommend USA Custom Guitars if you're interesting in 'making' your own guitar.
