For sure! Disco free zone here. I've always said if AC/DC ever came to St. John's the island would flip over & sink because the entire population would be in one place!

Triwatt Combo w/Fane AX12-150L & 1 x 12" Tonker in Extension Cab.
1984 62 Reissue Fender Stratocaster w/Fender Fat 50's Custom Shop PU's.

Saturday Night I finally got to try the Triwatt in a jam situation. My friend, who at time worked for Line6 - mainly screwing with old tube amps - was visiting from L.A. He was putting the amp thru it's paces, and thought it was great. (He is starting his Twin Reverb to Dumble Clone Conversion)

The amp is loud enough for a drummer with the 6V6s & 12AT7 PI. The power amp section stays cleaner than you would think a 22 Watt amp should. It takes effects without a problem, & after hearing the live "Wall" CD, it's nails Gilmour's tone without bleeding ears.

We never bothered to try any other guitars, because the 62 Reissue Strat sounded so good.

The Triwatt is a Great Amp!

Cool. I was trying to play a bit of Wish/Animals Floyd the other night with my Kinman loaded Strat & can get very close with my cab also. Love this amp!

I've been playing my new P90 loaded Schecter through it the last few days. Very nice also. More of a natural P90 tone than my P90 SG. More growl form the bridge. The neck pickup in this guitar is very dark/warm, almost muddy. Very different feel than I was expecting. It might be a wiring thing though. Import guitars have dodgy wiring usually & this one is no exception. Got a RS Guitarworks kit on the way for it.

I also have another cab on the way to try out with the Triwatt. It's a 4x8 (yes - you read that right) with NOS Marsland drivers that were used in some old Traynor amps & PA's. I expect it'll sound fine with the Triwatt. I haven't seen/heard a guitar or cab the Triwatt didn't get along with...

Last night another friend brought over his Les Paul. I like the Fenders thru the amp better, but it still sounded great. He thought the feel of the amp seems more like his Model 1986 & 1987 non-master volume Marshalls, than his 2204 master volume Marshall. (Pre-PI Master vs. Post-PI Master?).

LP's. Rosewod Strats, Maple Strats, & Maple Teles - The Triwatt loves them all!

I brought my JCM 900 4502 home from the music store were it was on consignment - I was having a party, & thought there might a few friend who might be interested in it.

It seems 4 out of the 5 players there liked the Triwatt better. Fender Amp Players seem to think there would be no debate on the choice. A richer clean sound of the Triwatt sold them. The suprising thing was the 22 Watt Triwatt was just as loud as the 50 Watt Marshall. (The Fane AX12-150L and the Tonker are more effecient speakers than the G12T-75s in the Marshall. Also the Triwatt sounded like a "Bigger Amp"- Broader Sounding with a deeper bottom end.

The lone holdout was a Mesa Boogie Player, who liked the channel switching and the higher gain of the Marshall.

Very interesting Rob, and not all that surprising. The open-ness of the Triwatt would certainly make Strat players partial to it. As I've noted there's a very Fenderish quality to it if you set it up just right, especially with Fane's. Not so much with Celestions - sounds more "claustrophobic" if you take my meaning.

Interesting about the Triwatt being as loud as the 50w Marshall. That's certainly not the case with my Triwatt & 2204. My Marshall is CRAZY loud. Running at full song with the attenuator set at -12db it's as loud as the Triwatt with no attenuation. Without the attenuation it's a challenge to stay in the same room with the Marshall. This was running through my Triwatt cab too, which is much easier to listen to at volume than my V30 cab. I haven't done a side-by-side with a 50w JCM900 yet, but I may have the opportunity soon as there will be a JCM900 head in the house in the next few days.

Also interesting about the gain comment from the Boogie player. I would say my Triwatt has as much gain as my 2204, and I've gain modded the 2204 to boot. It's a different feel to the gain though. My Marshall is more intense while the Triwatt is smoother. It's even more surprising to me because I hear a lot of Boogie-ish character in the Triwatt at higher gain settings. Each to his own I guess! :)

It's great to get feedback on the TRIWATT.

Looking at the speaker spec's shows the probable reason why the Triwatt was about the same loudless as the Marshall JCM 900 4502.

Triwatt Speakers Sensitivity: Fane Axiom 12-150L - 103 dB...
& Eminence Tonker - 102.5 dB....

Marshall 4502: Celestion G12T-75 - 97 dB...

Also the Triwatt's Combo Cab. was stacked on the top of the 1x12" Ext. Cab.

The Marshall 4502 was a late 90's 6L6 Version, at one time I also had the early 90's EL34 Head. I am pretty sure the EL34 Versions are a little louder than the 6L6 Versions of the JCM 900 Hi Gain Dual Reverbs.
