Well, as of today he stillmay decide to keep it..

He says it plays so good he loves it, much better than his other guitars...

But he doesnt think the wood and the finish selection is on par with a $3K to $4K les paul/prs etc... NO crap SHERLOCK!

I am not going to spend $300 on a 5A top, another day and a half's work on the finish on top of what ot already cost me for parts and a case and labour... for a $1500 used guitar.

I think he figured he would get a superb custom for a steal.... I made an awesome guitar, he agrees to that. But I guess he assumed the guitar would also be absolutely top end in terms of wood and finish. Damn, its pretty good I think - not likt the top is a dog, and the back is from my best wood stash... - but like I said, I could always spend "X" more hours buffing and polishing and getting every little detail perfect. But hell you dont PLAY the finish!

At this point I just want my guitar back, and I'll be super happy with it.

Sometimes fine art needs to be appreciated from a distance, like from the audience for example

well, he decided to send the guitar back, even though a number of his friends in Ottawa played it and said it was awesome...
I am glad it is coming home! Next time I am down in Toronto I will brinbg her with me...

You could charge double that AJ and it would still be a steal. Really beautiful work. I just have to look at the damn thing and all the hand carving to tell the thing plays incredibly. Do you use CNC?

An aesthetic critcism: die the front of the headstock darker, or maybe match it to the body.

Well, he may be crazy in our estimation but if it's not what he's looking for you can't blame him I suppose. Gibson & PRS should see that neck joint. Freakin awesome...

Works out great for Andrew though! And I agree - now that it's yours matching up the headstock would really set it off.

I know, I've got two custom shop Gibby's and I just got back from a visit to House of Guitars

Mmmm...custom shop Gibby. Maybe some day when a bag of money drops on my head - they do a slick little number with silver trimmed cross inlays that would really be sweet...

But then there's this which is more "authentic" really, and probably the same cost or less...

Wellllllll, I've got a R8 and an R6, bought both new. Also have a LP studio Not really custom, but from the CS division.

The R8 was $2600 and the R6 was $2300 (both US$), both of which is WAY under what list or the "evil empire" (i.e. GC) charges.

They're both VERY nice, the R8 is 8.4 lbs, the R6 is 9.2 lbs, both very resonant. Happy wifh both
