Hi Guys,

I am planning a 2 x 10" cabinet.

Was planning on BBQ alnicos, but which ones?
Also need opinions on open or closedback?

Mostly for blues/rock style.

Good to hear from you again. A lot of talk here about the Eminence Red Fang Alnico, Wharehouse Guitar Speaker 10" alnico. We have been using the Jensen Blackbird Jet 10" Alnico in the Tramps with success.

Of course, there is the Tone Tubby set-up as well and you know what they sound like.

I would think a 210 Jensen Blackbird Jet would sound pretty rich, but would like to hear the Red Fang. Curves indicate the Fang peaks at about 3 - 4 Khz. 10 db up so it might not be best for you. Hard to say.

Yeah, i'll will get some life in the Triwatt soon, i hope.
Just havent had the the time.

But my local luthier, also builds cabs, so i've had him build a house for the TC15.
I'll post some pics when it done. I can tell you this already, it's going to be gorgeus.

Anyway, how about the BBQ 10" alnico's.
Or even a combimation.

I recently got a 2x12" Brown cab, loaded with TT alnico's. But i havent gottea around to breaking it in.
Do you have a good method to break in speakers.

No experience on the BBQ Alnico. You might look at the Warehouse Guitar S peaker 10" alnico, taz liked that one and fortis liked the Eminence Red Fang Alnico.

Speaker Break In: I use a 6.3VAC transformer connected to the speaker for about 8-16 hours.
bgroup runs ipod music through them for 40 hours.

Love the WGS G10A

Also use both the Vetran 10 and G10C ceramics. The v10 being a 25w speaker is easy to get good breakup on and the G10C like the G10A is a 75w speaker.

For breaking in speakers, I tend to use recordings of the instruments that will be played through it. Bass for Bass Guitars for guitars. I use a amp and an audio loop set so that the o/p level rises and falls.
Volume is moderate to low, and I do it for at least 12 hrs sometimes all weekend.

Actually, I don't use an ipod, sorry for the confusion... I have some guitar I recorded through a DI direct to hard disk - lots of open chords, percussive playing. I reamp the DI track using a Radial X-Amp box and let it run while I'm not at the studio - I usually break speakers in this way a minimum of about 40 hours. Seems to do the trick!
