Hey. I am brand new to the foums here and just have a quick question.

I just recently put the finishing touches on my Triwatt. Everything has been double, triple, and quadruple checked. I am getting ready to power this thing up.

Now I was wondering, I have a speaker that is rated for 200 watts RMS and I was wondering if I can damage the speaker during the initial powerup. I figure it is rated to handle a massive amount of wattage so I was thinking no matter how bad a mistake I may have made, it shouldn't damage the speaker, especially because I am running this amp with 6v6's.

This may be the dumbest question ever. I don't know.

Any thoughts?

It will be fine. I use 8 - 1 ohm, 10 watt resistors in series and never had a problem.
How did the start up go?

Well....

I started her up... The guitar sounded ultra clear, with NO hum, hiss, or any background noise, however output was VERY low. So I'm going to try a few different things today and try to find out what the problem is.

I can tell this is going to be a VERY quiet amp, once I figure out what the problem is.

Thanks for the support!

Finally up and running.

Only problem, it would seem, was there must have been a bunch of cold solder points throughout the entire amp.

Now its all good and sounds great! Very happy.

The only question is what's the next build gonna be. I guess I got the bug...

Thanks!

Good news. Boy, those solder joints are critical. Any chance we're gonna hear some clips?

The Tramp is an easy build with a fantastic amp as an outcome.

Originally I was thinking a Brown Note D'Lite 22/33 or a Ceri@tone for my next project...

However, I'm so impressed with the Triwatt, that I'm thinkin' TC15 should be next...

We shall see.
