Hey guys, I'm registered for the TO amp building course, and I'm just asking (although I'm pretty sure I know the answer). Is there any way to build the Tramp as a head? I'm guessing that due to the tubes being mounted at the back (or bottom depending on the orientation) of the chassis, that there really isn't a way to have it mounted in a compact head shell.

I guess I'll most likely just build a combo cab for it in this case.

I'm really looking forward to this course!! :happydance:

The chassis is capable of being built as a head. The tube socket holes need to be punched out. Doing one myself. Cab can't be to small or there will be heat issues.
I like the 10" combo Tramp I have. If I want more I plug in a cab with a 12".
When I say I like the Tramp, I really mean that. I am running it with a 6L6 and the rest of my amps are gathering dust.
Build it either way and find out why it has been refered to as a tone b*tch.

Now I'm not sure, but I may just go with a combo. I can still plug into an external cab if I like.

BBQ (maybe Mojo as well) has head cabs for a few different tweed models where they just lay the combo-style chassis down flat on the bottom with the tubes facing straight out towards the back. Not sure of the heat implications. You would need to request a custom cutout for the Tramp faceplate...
