I am looking to get a Tramp head kit here soon. Then sometime in the future also build a Triwatt head.

I'm trying to decide on a extention cabinet and speakers. How does this sound: a 2x10" cabinet with one BBQ Blue pup and one BBQ Silver Ten?

Two very different amps, which really need different types of speakers to sound their best. The two tens you mentioned would work beautifully for the Tramp. However the Triwatt ideally needs something with more high end rolloff, on the lines of a Fane. As you may know Fane speakers were used with the originall Hiwatts. I also doubt that ten inch speakers will really do justice to a Triwatt. So for the Triwatt I would recommend an Eminence Lynch Super V12 or BBQ FC12, which are both Fane clones. Eminence's Cannabis Rex might also suit the Triwatt, as it has the upper end roll-off, although it's not a Fane clone.

Thanks for the input. Maybe I'll just get a combo for the tramp. Then when the time comes for the Triwatt, get dedicated speakers for that. Just trying to kill 2 birds with one stone.

The BBQ Thames is also a Fane clone - based on the old "Purplebacks". I have a pair of those in my Triwatt cab. It's a little more "hi-fi" than most guitar speakers - rather open & transparent. They sound pretty good with pretty much anything I throw at them. The sound may not be for everyone though. If you like a pristine clean type of tone using pedals & whatnot for "color" they're a good choice.

I like the Triwatt through Greenback-ish speakers also. Not so much with my Vintage 30 cab - a little too modern/edgy for that application.

I like the Tramp with Red Fangs. Personal taste there. Sounds good with old "american" voiced alnicos too. I didn't have my greenbacks when I built that one so I can't comment.

Right now I am looking at a single 10" speaker for the tramp combo. I'm liking the Eminence 1028k. I love the sound of the Red Fang, but the cost is too much for me.

When the Triwatt ever happens, I'm thinking a pair of BBQ FC12.

I was reading old posts over the weekend. It took about an hour to come to the realization that BBQ = BBQ

The WGS Vetran 10 is only 55cdn and sounds pretty good with the Tramp.
