Finished my 5E3 build and after double checking all connections I decided to power up. With both standby and power switches on and no tubes installed I have the following readings;

Pin 2 = 5.35 VAC
Pin 4 = 352 VAC
Pin 6 = 352 VAC
Pin 8 = nothing
Heater wires and indicator lamp = 3.27 VAC

Should I not be reading 6.3 VAC for the lamp and heater wires. I also noticed the lamp sometimes flickers. This is my first build and I have very limited electrical knowledge so and help is appreciated.

All those voltages look good!

You won't get a high voltage on pin 8 until you plug in the rectifier tube (5Y3).
When you measure pin 2 and 8 with one lead on ground and your DMM set to AC voltage you get around 2.5V AC right?

Heaters should measure 3.3V AC from heater to ground so your good there. If you measure from one heater to the other (or across the lamp) you will see 6.3V AC.

Flickering would indicate a loose connection/wire or a poor solder somewhere. Go through and check all your heater connections, make sure everything is solid, no bad solder, no partially broken wires, etc.

1) With both standby and power switches on and no tubes installed - When I put one lead to ground (chasis) and the other to pin 2, I get 5.35 VAC and for pin 8 no reading... I do not get the 2.5 vdc...

2) Here are all my readings with all tubes installed. Can you please confirm these are correct, I am wondering about pin 7&8 0n V2

B+ with no tubes = 0, with rectifier only = 482 vdc, with all tubes = 399 vdc

I would assume the amp is working? With those voltages, it should be.
Yes perhaps a little low on V2,pin 8 but I have seen it similar voltages like that and it sounds great.

Yes it works and it sounds awesome! lovin it. When I first powered it up I had no sound but later discovered it was a bad guitar cable. I think my kids were messing around with the cable and broke a connection. I resolder it and bingo - what a relief. Thanks for checking the voltages, just wanted to make sure everything was close to spec. Excellent kit and extremely quiet.
