Hey guys...

I'm curious to hear what pedals you guys use, if any?

Do you only use boutique pedals or are you perfectly fine with Boss stompers?

Are you a true-bypass-only type of guy or do you think that the Boss buffer is perfectly fine?

Do you make and/or mod any of your pedals?

s2 sent a Drive 2 - Tube Overdrive pedal, and it's the sweetest sounding pedal I have ever heard! So-o-o-oo Smooooth with the sIII. Apparently, they have gotten even better lately. :D

i guess i'm more of a sonic soundscaper
i don't try to sound like anyone else...i try to replicate what i hear in my head, and as in any society, it can be an unintended exercise in social alienation ;-)

true by-pass doesn't matter to me, but it does what it's intended to accomplish if 'authentic replicated tone' is what yer after

all my stompboxes are modded for extended freq response and lo-noise

boutique boxes are great for getting historical tones, but i don't have any

i was planning to make a Rangemaster clone, but I have an old rack mount parametric EQ that's awful damn close...all i got to do is put in a footswitchable bypass relay...so i may do that instead

Lately I've been using a US Big Muff reissue and a Deluxe Memory Man. Since I've had my Trinity, I've been using a lot less effects than usual. I pretty much just use the Muff for solos and keep the DMM on most of the time. I'll sometimes use an old TS10 tubescreamer as a boost when I have to keep the volume down. I think most of us would agree that, boutique or not, the tone is the most important thing. If it works for you, great.

Since I've started building my own booteek amps a few years ago, I've discovered garbage in - garbage out really applies. I use almost no pedals now. I like a good TS808 (currently a Sparkle Drive) with Fender type amps. My Lightning seems to have all the gain I need and my 18 Watt does too with just a boost pedal in front of it. Otherwise, I have a literal graveyard of OD pedals in my closet. Most never see the light of day, but I can't bring myself to sell them either...

Don't use a "Distortion" stomp, I have a couple of ODs. Just got a DigiTech Bad Monkey (USA model) on a trade and it's one ot the best TS Clones clones that I have ever used, especially considering the price. I use it as a Clean Boost. I have an old Dan Electro Daddy O. and IMHO, there's no better JCM 800 In A Box out there. I don't think folks uderstand this Beast.

I don’t really use pedals all that much any more, but I do have one I really like, an old Ibanez PUE5 Tube. It has a TS, tube overdrive, chorus, delay and effects loop. I like the stereo out, and it pretty much will do whatever effects I want. I also have an old RAT R2DU rack mount that gets some very unique and nasty tones; it’s fun to play with every now and then. That being said, it’s probably been a year since I have used either of them ;)

Eddie;

I have the Boss version of that old Ibanez. Picked it up for 15 Bux. LOL Very seldom use it myself but it does a good job when I do.

If we must talk pedals, here is a pic of my board:

http://home.comcast.net/~stvnscott/PICT2005.JPG

Exceptions are the boost2 has been replaced with a drive2 for now and the Full Drive has been retired to the closet. It will come out again when I'm back in the mood for Santana licks.

Steve,

you should do a little advertising over at HC.com....there's alot of guys in that effects forum that would definitely be interested in your two pedals...

ok, some stomp boxes...

Boss
LS2 Line Selector,
CS-2 Compression Sustainer,
MT-2 Metal Zone,
FT-2 Dynamic Filter,
SD-1 Super Overdrive

Electro-Harmonix
Big Muff Pi Russian Re-issue
Big Muff Pi NYC Re-issue

George Dennis - GD30 Wah Wah

Ibanez - AD202 analog delay, this isn't a stomp box but it's a very nice effect for the guitar and anything really.

Vox - Brian May Special Guitar Combo Amplifier - 10 Watts. 6.5 in. speaker. 'Deacy System' (his Deacy amp/Treble Boost combination) electronics. This can be used as an effect, as the treble boost section can be used by passing the amp.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There's also a Digitech S100, Delta Lab Effectron I ADM 1020, Electrix Filter Factory, MO-FX, and Warp Factory, Alesis Midiverb III, Aural Exciter, Nanocompressor, 3630, and lots of other stuff that are in the racks around here.
I've thought about it. I've also thought about musictoyz. But I can't keep up with the orders I have now...
I really only use diy pedals now. My main ones are:
Blue Magic Overdrive
Orange Squeezer
'69 clone
I just built a May Queen Treble Booster which mimics Brian May's treble booster/Vox AC30 tone. It's pretty fun, but not very versatile.
I just got my hands on a Visual Sound Route 66 pedal. What an awesome stomper! The compressor side a fantastic ross clone and the od side is a ts808 clone.
Both sides are great quality, low noise and are quite versatile. The compressor side can also operate as a clean boost, since the circuit has quite a good amount of gain, above unity.
The pedal sounds friggin fabulous with the Lighting...haven't tried it with the amp that can't be spoken about....but I'm sure it'll hit a home run there as well.
Wot amp cannot be spoken about?
I'm getting excited about starting my lighting amp... cannot wait actually.
If I use anything at all, which is pretty rare for me, it's a Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive.
90% of the time, though, I'm a guitar/cord/amp kind of guy.
That having been said; the next time I see a H&K Rotosphere for cheap, I'm grabbing it!
Peace-
Ethan
S2 wrote about one of those a couple months back at 18watt.com, so I bagged one a couple of weeks later on eBay. It sounds great: you can mix your distortion with a boost; it's great for slamming your preamp. It's my favorite pedal.
