Hello

I have almost finished wiring my Tramp kit. There are four different shielded cables specified in the layout drawing. The photos of completed amps posted on this forum (thanks to all of those who have posted photos) do not have four shield cables.

I also read somewhere on this forum that the shield cables should only be used to reduce noise.

Can someone please enlighten me? Should I install all four shielded cables? If not, which ones should I install?

Thank you

I just had a look at the drawings.. Looks to me like there's only 2. One from V1 to the Vol. pot and one from the input jack to the board.

Thanks Stoo

That's why I am confused. The drawing I have is Rev 10 (Sept 2010) and there are four shielded cables indicated. There is a Rev 13 layout drawing (Oct 2011) that I downloaded and it clearly shows two shielded cables as you indicate (input jack and Vol). However the Rev 13 drawing also shows a coaxial cable between the Master Volume (pin 2) to pin 6 of the power tube. No shield to ground is indicated on Rev 13 but it is shown on Rev 10 as shield to ground on the Master Volume switch.

Looks to me like two of the four shielded cables have been dropped from the newer layout. Is this the case?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hmm maybe a quick email to Stephen is in order. Personally I think just the 2 would be fine.

2 is fine as per latest drawing. Earlier version were overly conservative. You might consider one on the feedback wire if noise issues exist (in Tweed mode) after your build. That should do it -2.

Orange wire on the layout going to the 8R tap on the impedance switch.
