Powered up and verified voltages without tubes and speaker and everything looks good to go. Have a question regarding the bias switch and the speaker impedence switch.

Looking at the chassis referenced to the layout (looking down into the chassis, with all pots toward you) should the bias switch be down for the 6V6? Also I have a 16 ohm speaker. Which way should I turn the impedence switch for 16 ohms? Is there a way to verify the impedence?

Thanks,
Bruce

Hi Bruce,

If you wired the switch the same as the layout shows then, looking down at the chassis the way you describe (same as looking at layout) then the switch should be up for the 6V6 position (toward you). Well at least that's how mine is. You can verify this by checking with an Ohmeter, if you put one probe of the meter on the grounded side of the 750 Ohm resistor and the other probe on Pin 8 of the 6V6 socket, then in the 6V6 position you should get 750 Ohms and if you flick the switch to the 6L6 position it should read lower (like 300 and something Ohms or thereabouts, from memory ;) ).

For the Impedance switch, the centre position is 8 Ohms, anti-clockwise from there is 4 Ohms and full clockwise is 16 Ohms.

Your memory was good, 750 ohms with the switch up and 300 ohms with the switch down. Thanks for the help. Hoping to have everything working this weekend.
