I just saw that the thread I started while building my Tweed had a couple new posts (and great mod suggestions). I felt that it was worth noting that all the problems I had building the amp have been sorted out thanks mostly to Stephen's fantastic customer service.
I did end up modding the amp a bit. The coupling caps have been changed to .22uf, I added the smoothing resistor as well as the VRM I stopped short of removing C7. I tried it out without C7 and found that I like t better with C7 in place. It did tighten the sound up but I have a couple of other tighter amps if I want that sound.
The amp sounds great in every setting I've used it in from Jazz to 70's rock. I find myself bringing it to almost every gig. Since I've started using it I've been told many times that my sound is amazing, I don't get complimented as often on my playing but at least now people like my sound!
The speaker is a BBQ 12A125a I'm not sure how it stacks up against other speakers but to my ears it sounds good and fits the character of the amp well.
