Yeah. The preamp's treble control is generally a highpass filter so you may end up with too much on top at times. The cut control is a lowpass filter which allows you to select the frequency at which to roll off the high end. I find the effect is more subtle than the treble control but very useful for taking the edge off a bright guitar & preamp.
